Calum brings 10 years of experience teaching in British primary schools, having taught across KS1 and KS2 in a variety of schools in the South West, most recently in the World Heritage City of Bath. His Masters in Social Research focused on the key factors affecting KS1 assessment data, expertise he has shared with colleagues and leadership teams to accelerate pupil progress and secure improved outcomes.

In recent years, Calum has worked hard to raise the profile of sport and to promote active lifestyles in his role as Sports and PE Lead, something he is very passionate about both in his professional and personal life. Calum joins Brighton College with a strong and driven commitment to delivering excellence in the classroom for every child.

Méabh hails from Ireland and has been working as a qualified teacher for the past 14 years. She holds a BA (Hons) Degree in German and Russian from Dublin Institute of Technology and a PGCE from Liverpool Hope University. Méabh is a highly dedicated and resourceful teacher and is always committed to getting the best out of her pupils.

Méabh has spent the last 8 years of her teaching career teaching in British curriculum schools in Dubai and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience across all age groups. She also worked as an EAL teacher and looks forward to instilling her passion for languages onto the children.

Lucy has been a teacher for 7 years and has taught in the UK and Abu Dhabi. She is originally from Birmingham but has also lived in Indonesia and Spain. She received her PGCE Primary at Worcester University and has a BSc (Hons) in Human Psychology from Aston University. In her spare time she loves travelling to new places, trying new delicious foods and meeting interesting people.

Emma achieved a First Class Honours Degree in Primary Education with Science from The University of Hertfordshire in 2006.  Teaching for over 15 years prior to working at Brighton College Dubai, she has gained a variety of experiences, including teaching within an Australian school during an exchange year. 

Having held a range of roles whilst working in Cambridgeshire, England, Emma’s experience includes:  Deputy Headteacher of a primary school; Teacher Training Co-Director; Head of Upper Key Stage 2; Head of Maths in three schools; Science Leader; Learning to Learn Leader and Computing Leader. 

Emma also worked within a small team to create and set up a brand new junior school, which was part of an existing senior school. 

When in role as School-Centred Initial Teacher Training Co-Director for both Primary and Secondary trainee teachers, she worked as part of another small team, designing the course, delivering training and collaborating with professionals from partnership schools across the city, transforming the provision of the programme to become highly successful.

Kathryn has lived in Dubai with her family for fifteen years. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Honours degree) from the University of Liverpool. Since living in Dubai, she has worked at JESS, Arabian Ranches and Rashid School for Boys. In both schools she spent most of her time teaching in the Early Years and in her last post, she was subject leader for English.

She enjoys exercise, spending time outside and making the most of Dubai’s wonderful food scene. Kathryn is passionate about making learning exciting, challenging, meaningful and a lot of fun!

Jessica comes from London, England and has been working as a qualified teacher for the past 8 years in Outstanding rated schools both in the UK and UAE. She holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Dance from The University of Northampton and a PGCE from Roehampton University. Jessica is a creative and resourceful teacher and is always committed to getting the best out of her pupils through following their interests and individual learning styles.

Jessica has spent the last 4 years of her teaching career teaching in an Early Years British curriculum school in Dubai and brings with her a wealth of knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Katie is originally from Bristol in the UK where she taught Foundation Stage and Primary children in a large private school before starting her overseas adventure. She has previously taught in Southeast Asia, where she helped to set up a brand new British International School. For the past three years she has lived in the UAE.

Katie strongly believes that all children should experience an excellent education from a young age and develop a real love for learning. She centres her classroom on a free - flow child-initiated approach. She believes that children learn best through their interests and her teaching reflects this.

Rachel is a dedicated, enthusiastic, passionate teacher from Lincolnshire and has over 15 years of experience in teaching primary aged children. She has worked across all year groups from Years 1-6 and has also fulfilled the role of English Lead in a previous school in Lincoln. Before following her calling to become a teacher, she studied at the University of Reading to gain a BSc honours degree in Psychology.

Amber is originally from Blackpool, UK and holds a BA Hons degree in Primary Education from the University of Cumbria, with a specialism in English. She has been teaching in the UAE for five years and she strives to nurture a love for learning and enthusiasm across all subjects in the pupils she teaches.

Melissa graduated from Edge Hill University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree with QTS in Key Stage 2/3: English. She has seventeen years of experience in education, with eleven at a leadership level. She is an outstanding practitioner with a proven track record of consistently delivering high level teaching and learning that significantly improves pupil attainment, progress and achievement. In her previous role, she also held the position of Specialist Leader in Education; a role which gave her many exciting opportunities to work with and support school leaders across the North West of England. 

Outside of the classroom, she loves the opportunity to travel and spend quality time with her family and friends. 

After graduating from the University of Southampton with a degree in Criminology in 2010, Katie spent a year working as a Learning Support Assistant before completing a PGCE Primary with a French specialism. She is now in her tenth academic year of teaching and has been lucky enough to teach a range of year groups and hold several middle leadership roles, including Year Leader and Reading Lead. She moved to Dubai in 2018 and joined an outstanding British curriculum school where she held the position of Science lead as well as a Year 4 class teacher. She is passionate about developing a life-long love of learning in her pupils and believes in getting to know every child’s interests, strengths and passions in order to do so.

Sadie is from the UK, where she completed her BA Honours in Education Studies with Psychology and Counselling, and a Masters in Developmental Psychology, at Sheffield Hallam University. She has worked within early years education/ SEN for the past 11 years, including her most recent year teaching in the UAE at an international British curriculum school. Within her most recent role in the UK, she worked for a local authority where she was responsible for supporting children with additional needs such as Speech Language and Communication Needs/Autism, liaising with many professionals, and offering support and guidance to early years professionals/ teachers.

Sadie is passionate about helping children to develop and achieve their best ability, particularly in regards to supporting children with additional needs/SEN.  She enjoys planning learning experiences that reflect children's individual interests and encourages them to explore and be curious learners. She strongly believe in promoting positive well-being, helping children to develop their self-regulation skills, and become resilient, confident individuals. Sadie champions a holistic approach to child development and believes that all children should feel safe and secure in order for them to achieve their full potential.

After obtaining a bachelor degree of Islamic studies in English in Al-Azhar university in Cairo in 2000, Awad began his teaching career in Egypt and worked there for about 11 years.

He moved to Dubai in 2011 and worked in a variety of roles, which included founding the Arabic and Islamic department in GEMS Founders school Al Barsha and heading the Islamic department. Awad contributed to the school achieving BSO accreditation and achieving ‘Good’ in the first DSIB Evaluation. After that he moved to Dwight Dubai School before joining Brighton College Dubai.

Awad enjoys working with children and helping them to think critically and apply what they learn in their everyday life, and how to practice Arabic as part of their daily routine. He focuses on teaching them how to deal with all people, how to respect the world they live in and how to be helpful and productive in their society.

Awad’s main aim in teaching is to actively involve all pupils in lessons and create an inclusive classroom. He wants his pupils to be able to practice Arabic in their life and apply the Islamic values and teachings with everyone around them.

Outside of school life, Awad loves to travel and explore new places and particularly enjoys reading, doing sports, spending time with his family and occasionally, cooking. 

Mrs Spencer is thrilled to be part of the teaching team at Brighton College Dubai as an FS2 teacher.

Laura graduated from the University of Sunderland in the UK with a BA Honours in Primary Education including a specialism in Early Years. Since then, she has dedicated her teaching career to creating strong foundations for children within the Early Years, having taught across both FS1 and FS2. She has also used her experience to lead teams as a Year Leader and Early Years Coordinator.

Mrs Spencer has been living in Dubai for the past 4 years with her husband, 10-year-old son and new baby. She has two very cute rescue dogs who love going for walks with the whole family. Having a rugby obsessed son, she is often found offering moral support at the side lines of a rugby pitch.

Laura loves being part of the Brighton family. As an advocate for learning through play, she aspires to create meaningful learning opportunities that encourage children’s natural curiosity and interests. Her classroom is always a welcoming and nurturing environment, and she is excited to welcome pupils and parents in August.
