Joe originates from Donegal, Ireland and lives in Dubai with his wife. He brings a wealth of professional experience in Dubai to Brighton College, having moved here in 2010. He has worked as a senior leader in a local school that achieved ‘Outstanding’ in annual KHDA inspections since its inception.

Joe believes in creating a culture of learning and achievement centred around the individual. With a background in Computer Engineering and over 15 years teaching experience, Joe has a keen interest in fully utilising technology in order to enable creativity and facilitate innovation and critical thinking.

Jane holds a BA Hons in English Literature from Lancaster University and the National Professional Qualification for Headship. Since 2010, Jane has held the position of Deputy Headteacher – teaching and learning at The East Manchester Academy and has transformed her school into one of the top 40 most improved schools in the UK.

She has worked in education for the best part of 20 years, working in schools in London, Salford, and Manchester. She has undertaken a variety of roles including: Head of English, Head of Year, Assistant Headteacher, and Deputy Headteacher. She has worked across two new start up schools and set up sixth forms in both of them.

Joe holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education: Secondary History from the University of Exeter, a Master of Arts in Near and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of London, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from University of Oxford.

Having taught in schools in Mexico, the UK, Korea and the UAE, Joe’s 15 years of teaching experience spans across many continents, cultures and religions. His expertise lies in leadership through his roles as Director of the English Department at a Mexico based language school, his role as Enrichment Coordinator and Humanities Teacher at Honiton Community College in Devon in the UK, and as Deputy Head of Senior School and Founding Head of Sixth Form  at Brighton College Al Ain

Joe has taught many Brighton College pupils and has helped them on their journeys to becoming successful, confident and kind Old Brightonians, who have gone on to study at Ivy League and Russell Group universities around the world.

Chris holds a Sports Science degree and a PGCE in Physical Education, graduating from Northumbria University with a Commendation and Trainee of the Year Award.

Across seventeen years of teaching within England, Chris has been in Senior Leadership for eight. He has experience as an Assistant Head (Pastoral) and Deputy Head (School Improvement). Before joining Brighton College Dubai, Chris held the position of Head of Upper School, where he was proud to have led a three-year improvement of GCSE results. 

Chris’s educational philosophy is to value, challenge and inspire all pupils to achieve their personal best and to excel in their academic, cultural, co-curricular and personal lives. He advocates holistic education and opportunities for the building of pupil character, both inside and beyond the classroom. He is excited to be teaching Physical Education and contributing to the co-curricular life of the school as an experienced elite level coach across many sports.

Outside of school, Chris’s hobbies and interests include: listening to music, charity work, cooking, travelling and supporting his beloved Newcastle United FC. 

Sarah studied French at the University of Leeds during which time she spent her year abroad teaching at a lycée in France. She had her first teaching job at a secondary school in Manchester where she worked for eight years in roles including Lead Teacher, Head of MFL and Professional Mentor for trainee teachers.

Sarah is one of the founding members of staff and has been a key player in the development of the school. As Head of Languages, she has transformed the curriculum in line with the most up-to-date research in language pedagogy whilst helping to nurture a love of languages throughout the whole College.

Most recently, Sarah has been heavily involved in leading CPD for senior school staff and has also taken on the role of Exams Officer in time for the College’s first set of full exam qualifications. 

Holly studied Psychology at university before completing her PGCE in Primary Education, specialising in Early Years and Key Stage 1. She has also completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Special Educational Needs Coordination.

Before joining Brighton, Holly spent more than ten years teaching at a primary school in Surrey with an attached specialist resource provision for children with Autism. Alongside this, she undertook five years in the Senior Leadership Team in the role of Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion/SENCO.

Holly has previously been responsible for the provision and progress of groups of pupils including children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL). In her role as Assistant Headteacher, she developed the whole-school mental health and wellbeing, attachment awareness practice and the school’s racial justice strategy and formed part of the school’s safeguarding team.
